Investment Team 1

Chulhan Lee is an Investment Director at Samsung Ventures and focuses on sectors of Mobile, TV, Digital Appliance, Advanced materials and Digital Healthcare Solution.
He joined Samsung in 2003 as technology planning staff of Samsung Electro-Mechanics, and then joined Samsung Ventures in 2015. After joining Samsung Ventures, he has covered a wide spectrum of industry sectors from IT to Bio and Heavy Industry.
Chulhan has an MBA from Vanderbilt University as Samsung Sponsorship program and BS in Electronics Engineering from Korea University.

She is an Investment Director at Samsung Ventures
Prior to joining Samsung Ventures in 2021, She worked at Samsung Electronics and ON semiconductor as an in-house patent attorney of IP legal team for 11 years.
She handled IP issues including patent development strategies, and analysis of infringement risks of semiconductor from memory to PMIC. Based on that working experience, she specializes in the semiconductor and related industries.
She received the B.S degree in mechanical engineering from Hongik University and holds an MBA degree from Peking University.

Hyemin Lee is a senior investment Manager in Investment Team 1.
Prior to joining Samsung Ventures in 2021, She worked at Samsung C&T and ASML as an engineer about 7 years.
She has built up the knowledge and experiences in semiconductor field as she cooperated with Samsung Electronics.
She received the B.S degree in mechanical engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology.

Chanwoo is an Investment Director at Samsung Venture Investment, based in Seoul, Korea.
Prior to joining Samsung Venture Investment in 2022, he worked at SK hynix for about 8 years.
He first began as an engineer in a department that develops and manages the manufacturing process of 2D/3D NAND flash memory.
He worked in the first department for several years and then moved on to the strategy department where he made plans and strategies for semiconductor business.
Through the 8 years at SK hynix, he was trained to view multiple aspects of the semiconductor industry : Technology, Market, and Semi-dimensional rear industries.
He received the B.S and M.S degree in material science and engineering from Yonsei University.
During the course, she extended her research boundary as an exchange researcher at Monash University, Australia.

Jinho is an Investment Director at Samsung Venture Investment, based in Seoul, Korea.
Jinho started his career in Samsung Electronics as a semiconductor process architect in 2013.
He has various experience in semiconductor process area.
Then, beyond his engineer career, he was in charge of global tech sensing and new business development in SK materials.
Jinho received his B.S and M.S degree in Material Science and Engineering from Seoul National University.

WooKyung(Chris) is an Investment Directorr in Investment Team 2, based in Seoul.
She joined Samsung Ventures at Sep, 2020. Prior to SVIC, she worked at LG Electronics as a home appliance product planner, majorly focused on Asia/India HVAC market.
She holds MBA from Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) and received B.S. in mechanical engineering from Yonsei University.
With her experience related with digital appliance and end-user behavior, she is interested in service area that can be innovated by technology, such as AI, data analytics and etc.

Sangmin (David) is an Investment Director at Samsung Venture Investment, based in Seoul.
Before joining SVIC as of June 2021, Sangmin was a part of the Open Innovation team of Samsung SDS,where he was in charge of sensing and sourcing startups and new technology trends in the AI, Bigdata domain.
Sangmin holds a Ph.D. in Business and Technology Management from KAIST where his research focused on analyzing startup ecosystems through network theories and econometirc models.
He enjoys watching college football, short documentaries and daily walks with his dog.

Saemi is an Investment Director at Samsung Venture Investment, based in Seoul, Korea.
Prior to joining Samsung ventures, Saemi started her career as a staff engineer at Samsung Research, the advanced R&D hub of Samsung Electronics, where her research scope focused on identifying new future growth areas and developing them into the products and services.
Particularly, she was actively involved in the area of environmental sensing and control, mainly air-related work.
Saemi received her B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. in material science and engineering from Seoul National University.
During the course, she extended her research boundary as an exchange researcher at Monash University, Australia.

Min joo is an Investment Director at Samsung Venture Investment, based in Seoul, Korea.
Before joining SVIC, she worked at ZER01NE Team of Hyundai Motor Group for about 5 years.
She was in charge of sourcing and operating accelerator programs to connect between external startups and internal teams within Hyundai Motor Group and to execute collaborative projects. Also, she invested in early stage startups in mobility sector.
She majored in Business Economics at University of California, Irvine.

Junho Yang is an Investment Director at Samsung Venture Investment, based in Seoul, Korea.
Prior to joining Samsung Venture Investment (2022), Junho worked in the real estate investment department of Korea Investment and Securities, where he dealt with various transactions regarding land, accommodations, and commercial and office buildings in South Korea along with numerous development projects.
In his role, Junho was interested in property technology, blockchain technology, and art & culture.
Now his interests expand to vertical applications of AI and internet of things.
Junho is a wine aficionado and he enjoys to surf. He received his B.S. in business from Hanyang University.

Uiseok Hwang is an Investment Director at Samsung Venture Investment, based in Seoul, Korea.
Before joining Samsung Ventures, Uiseok gained experience in both the consulting and tech industries.
He started his career as a consultant at Nomura Research Institute.
Then, he moved to LINE and contributed to launching its cryptocurrency, LINK (Finschia), and developing its blockchain business as a lead.
After working at LINE, he transferred to NAVER’s AI business division, CLOVA, and worked as a business strategy manager.
Uiseok earned his MBA from the University of California, Berkeley Haas School of Business, and his B.S. in Industrial Engineering from Hanyang University.

Donghyun Kim is an Investment Director at Samsung Venture Investment, based in Seoul, Korea.
Before joining SVIC as of August 2023, he started his career as a staff engineer at Samsung Electronics, where he developed advanced technology for enhancing video quality by using rule and AI algorithm.
Afterward, he worked at LG Display as an AI algorithm developer for last 2 years.
He received his B.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from Yonsei University, where his research focused on image/video procssing based on human visual system.

Jongwook Kim is an Investment Director in Team 3.
Prior to Samsung Ventures, he worked at Samsung Electronics as a marketing manager, responsible for launching strategy and product portfolio of mobile phone in China market. Initially, he joined Samsung Electronics in 2009 as a mechanical engineer, where he designed various automated production lines for components such as mobile phone camera. Jongwook holds MBA from China Europe International Business School(CEIBS). Also, he received M.S. and B.S. in mechanical engineering from Yonsei University.

Jisu Yoon is an Investment Director in Team 3.

Before joining Samsung Venture Investment, I had worked as a Li-ion battery engineer in LG Energy Solution for 5 years.
I was a lead engineer for Porsche’s battery module project and involved Daimler’s battery cell project.

Junyeong Kim is an Investment Director in Team 3.
Prior to joining Samsung Ventures in June 2022, he worked as a senior research engineer at LG Display and LG Electronics for 6 years.
In that role, he focused on virtual design, process optimization and failure analysis for OLED panel manufacturing process/equipments and smartphone components/set.
He received his B.S. and Ph.D. degrees in materials science and engineering from Seoul National University.

Stan Lee is Investment Director, focusing on Healthcare, Insurtech, FIntech, and Consumer & SME related platforms.
Prior to joining Samsung Venture in Feb-2021, he worked as a sell-side equity research analyst (Shinhan Investment, Citigroup, Goldman Sachs) covering Korean Financial sector for 13 years and then moved on to work for Samsung Fire & Marine's strategic investment of overseas P&C insurance companies for 5.5 years (recent investment include Canopius, global speciality insurer and no 3 Lloyd’s player).
Stan graduated from Yonsei University with a BA in Business Administration, and holds an active CPA(US) license .

Sarah is an Investment Director at SVIC pursuing disruptors in fintech (e.g., wealthtech, payments) and healthcare across various stages.
Before SVIC, Sarah led open innovation programs at Samsung Securities and explored inorganic growth strategies in payment services at Hyundai Card Company (HCC).
She began her career at PricewaterhouseCoopers Consulting (PwC), where she primarily engaged in projects for the financial services sector.
Sarah holds a joint MSc in Global Finance from The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology Business School and The New York University Leonard N. Stern School of Business. She also received a B.A. in Business Administration from Sogang University.

Jaemin Lee is an Investment Director at Samsung Venture Investment and focuses on sectors of biotech and pharmaceutical industries.
Prior to joining Samsung Venture Investment, Jaemin was Principal Scientist of Drug Product Team for Samsung Bioepis. In that role, he led a formulation development of antibodies, Fc-fusion proteins, and antibody fragments. Also, he involved task force units for Cell & Gene therapies and bio-better products. Prior to Samsung Bioepis, he managed formulation development and manufacturing process of biologics in GC Pharma. Before GC Pharma, he worked at Hanmi Pharmaceuticals, developing analytical methods and writing CMC section of CTD dossier. Jaemin earned M.S. degree in Molecular and Life Sciences at POSTECH and B.S degree in Life and Genetic Engineering from Korea University.

Dongil "Tim" Geum is an investment Director Investment Team 5.
Prior to joining Samsung Ventures, Tim worked at Hanmi Pharmaceuticals for 5 years, serving multiple roles as a QC analyst, a bioprocess development scientist, and a CDMO business coordinator.
During his tenure at Hanmi, Tim initiated the biologics CDMO business at the Hanmi Bio Plant Complex and signed multiple CMO/CDO deals with various companies.
Tim received a B.S. in biological engineering and an M. Eng. In biomedical engineering from Cornell University.

JaeHo Koh is an Investment Director at Samsung Venture Investment.
Prior to joining Samsung Venture Investment, Jaeho was a Scientist in the Quality Evaluation Team for Samsung Bioepis.
In that role, he handled biological quality data of antibodies and managed their methods and data lifecycles from R&D to CMC stages.
Additionally, he led digital transformation task force units within the global company, with the goal of establishing a database structure and lab records in the Development Division.
Jaeho received a B.S. in bioengineering and an M.S. degree in bioengineering (drug delivery system) from Hanyang University.

Myungseok Choi is an Investment Director in Investment Team6 and focuses on sectors of built environment technologies and ESG-related.
Prior to joining Samsung Ventures in 2017, he worked at M-Venture investment (a venture capital firm) for 2 years and Lotte E&C (a engineering and construction company) for 4 years.
His investment domain experience has spanned across various built environmental technologies (digitalization, automation, materials, etc.) and ESG sectors (ESS, renewable energy, CCUS, etc.
He holds MBA, and M.S/B.S in architectural engineering.

SunMin Lee is an Investment Director at Samsung Venture Investment.
SunMin has about 10 years of experience in power generation industry at energy solution company Hanwha Energy before joining Samsung Venture Investment.
Through her career in both engineering and management, she has experienced a diverse range of projects across a wide range of energy sector – Coal, Photovoltaic, LNG, CCUS and others based on ESG.
She mainly involved in strategy, joint venture establishment, project management and financing, government relations, and commercial plant operation/engineering.
She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical engineering from Rutgers University, New Jersey US.
